It was so wonderful to meet with many of you over this week to talk about your students. We are so lucky to have such a good group of kiddos! If you ever have any additional concerns, or did not get a conference slot but wanted one, please don't hesitate to contact me.
This week marks the end of the first trimester! Report cards will be coming home in a few weeks and will look very different than last year's report card. Students skills are broken down into more focused areas, called standards, so we can get a better picture of their strengths and areas of focus.
This week we just about finished up our first science unit. We have been learning all about some of the ways animals are different from one another. We sorted animals into groups (mammals, reptiles, fish) but also observed how even the same type of animal can have very different species (such as frogs). We ended discussing how birds also have different needs, and how engineers design their bird houses based on those needs. We are going to design and build our own bird houses on Monday and bring them home to test them out. Exciting! If you signed up for helping out with Science, look out for an email from me this afternoon. Even if you didn't sign up and this sounds like a fun project, reach out. We'd love to have you!
Have a wonderful weekend!
