Thanks to a rain delay, the students enjoyed two field trips in one week! We went on a walk down town to see how much New Boston has changed. We learned that they moved an entire house (Nan's House) to build a library. Then the library was eventually moved away from down town to the newer building. We were also able to tour our new library and enjoy the trail and bridge that were recently finished.
Our second field trip came to us (thanks to our amazing PTA). Part of our science curriculum includes how certain animals are able to survive in their habitats. We had some owl visitors in the Art Room and learned all out how they survive in our own back yard. We then kept our scientist hat on and predicted what we would find in an owl pellet. We observed as we pulled apart the pellet and found lots of neat stuff!! We were able to identify different types of bones based of our research guides. There were hip bones, leg bones, shoulder bones, and lots of skulls!
A lot of grades went home this week. These definitely look different than last year, as they rarely have a traditional grade on them. Instead, the standards that were assessment on the assignment are listed along with the point value that the student earned next to them. More information will be included with the first report card that is going home next month.
The students also earned their first class reward this week! They chose to watch Peter Rabbit during a PJ day. We are going to have this movie on November 21st (the day before Thanksgiving). Students are allowed to wear PJs and bring in a pillow and blanket. They may also bring in a stuffed animal. However, they must be able to bring everything how. So nothing too large that wouldn't be able to bring it home on the bus. I recommend sending things in with a trash bag to it is easier to bring home.
A Look Ahead:
Monday: Veterans Day (No School)
Wednesday: Permission Slips for Link Activity is being sent home
