Mackinvia - Online Books
Glogster
Native American Project
Due: November 18th, 2016
Your students will be studying a Native American tribe using E-books over the next couple of weeks. Each child will be researching a specific tribe. Some of the topics they will be researching include clothes, homes, celebrations, daily life and food (complete list with points on the back). They will then create an online presentation (a Glogster) and present their information to the class.
If students would like to “crank it up” and receive the highest grade possible, they may also create anoptional side project at home to represent something about their tribe.
Ways you can help your students at home:
· Help spell check their project
· Let them practice presenting to you
o Work on not reading EVERYTHING directly from Glog
· Assist with a cranking it up idea, but make sure it is student driven (Optional)
Important Dates:
November 2nd - Students receive their tribe’s name and learn how to use E-Books
November 7th – Student begin researching and creating their Glog at school
November 18th – Projects should be completed and won’t be worked on in school anymore (you may practice at home and spell check though)
November 22nd – Students present their projects to the class and bring in their side projects (parents are welcome)
Project Menu
Each topic must be explained and include details from their research. (2-5 sentences)
(Total of 90 points possible)
Research Topics:
Shelter/Home (10 Points) Food (10 Points)
Clothing (10 Points) Art / Crafts (10 Points)

· ~Diorama of a scene
o -Make sure to include things from your tribe (no buffalos in the desert)
· ~Game to practice facts about your tribe
· ~A one page paper on EXTRA information not included in your Glogster
· ~A poem or song about or from your tribe
· ~Bake a traditional food from your tribe
· ~Create a poster with information on a famous Native American from your tribe
The cranking it up option is meant to be fun, so get creative and if you don’t see your idea on here… run it by me. Project will receive points depending on how much effort is spent and how the student explains the relation to their tribe.
Any questions, feel free to call or email. -Mrs. Mitchell
