We completed our first FULL week of school! It was filled to the brim with new activities. Our biggest activity is our new fundraiser! We got to meet Lay-up Liam and Jump Shot James. They created a flag for us and talked about two important skills for all athletes: Curiosity and Practice! I'm so looking forward to next week when we get to top our fundraiser off with a fun run! The PTA has created an amazing FAQ section if you have questions about the program. So feel free to reach out at [email protected] if you have any questions!
Michaelmas it inching closer! We are FOUR weeks from faire day! I will start sending out emails of suggestions for good places to be in the Michaelmas process next week. The week leading up to Michaelmas we practice things like supply/demand and making change. However, most of the work is done at home. If you have any questions or just want to run an idea by me - please don't hesitate to reach out. You have some of the most flexible third graders I have ever met! We started using laptops this week, of course attempting math games first. As with anything new, there were a few bumps. But everyone took deep breaths (even the teacher) and we got through it. We also started AIMsWeb testing on the laptops. Again, such flexible learners. There were some tough math questions on that test! Probably the most exciting first this year (perhaps I should have lead with this one) we started reading buddies! Your third graders are the proud big buddies to a very excited (and wiggly) AM Kindergarten class. Each Friday we will meet with our buddies to play games, do activities, and of course - read! They were so patient and kind with our new little friends. These friendships often last until they graduate NBCS and beyond. I am so excited to be able to bring this program back, even if we have to go outside in order to make it safer. Well - that's enough for now! A big week is coming up, so enjoy the weekend! Upcoming Events: 📷 Monday, September 20th - Picture Day 🍎 Tuesday, September 21st - Back to School Night @ 6pm 🏃 Friday, September 24th - Boosterthon Fun Run @ 1pm (families welcome to cheer from sidelines!) A Look Ahead: ❌ In math, we're going to look at data and graphs and start a little thing called multiplication 👐 In reading, we're going to read narrative non-fiction stories about how everyone can contribute to a community 🚜 In social studies, we're going to look at the last type of community: rural - and maybe on to a VR field trip!
