Another short week has come to an end! That means we have four more weeks together! I miss you all terribly... please know that even once summer comes and goes, come September, you can ALWAYS come visit.
Lots of optional pieces today! Your must-dos are the reading quiz and spelling assessment. The other pieces that are on the agenda include Mystery Doug and math games. Some of you have been doing those earlier in the week. That's totally fine! I post the assignments on Monday in case other days work better to do some of the weekly assignments. However, this is only if you can do so without rushing through them. I am so impressed with everyone's work ethic. As we inch closer to summer, be on the look out for Birthday Shout Outs replacing some of your school work (just like it would if we were in school). Next week is going to look a little different for those of you who do morning Zooms with me. I am going to be packing up the classroom 😭. It'll be a little weird to go in knowing I won't see your adorable faces. I will be packing up your personal items for you. Be on the lookout for more information on when you'll be able to grab your gear as well as what I'm adding in there. Have a great weekend! There will be no assignments tomorrow, but there will be weekly pictures. I only have a few, so right now it's going to be a gallery instead of a YouTube video. Have a picture of your talent? What about your flower? Even a picture of your cool shark (with your beautiful face in the background) would be great to see! Office Hours: 8 - 9 1 - 2 6 - 7:30

Today marks two months of virtual learning from home. You. Guys. Rock. I am so beyond proud of everything you've done, but I'm especially proud of how far you've come with math. We've been doing completely new concept that are sorta tricky to learn on a computer (fractions) and you have pushed through and really made such wonderful gains. Have I told you how amazing you are recently? No? Well... you are.
For our snack chat today, we're dressing in our favorite sports team gear! That could be professional sports teams (Bruins, Patriots, Celtics, Red Sox) or it could be your own uniforms! I can't wait to see what you choose to wear. ALSO! We're going to do a live how to draw! So grab a paper and a pencil and draw along with us. Don't forget to study hard today! Tomorrow is the spelling test because we have a long weekend ahead of us. YAY! Office Hours: 8:30 - 10 1 - 2 6 - 7:30 Today is the last plant science lesson. We're going to learn about citrus fruits and how selection COMPLETELY changed them! I hope you enjoyed this unit. It's one of my favorites and made me look at flowers and plants a little differently. Starting next week, you'll be looking up a bit more. We're going to be learning about weather! And man has our weather been crazy lately! Maybe learning about weather will bring some WARM weather along?! Maybe?! I hope so...
Today's math activity is a focused game. I apologize, I put the wrong due dates yesterday so some of your activities didn't show up on the classroom page. I was so impressed some of you found them anyway! If you didn't see the math lesson or writing prompt yesterday, don't worry. Turning it in "late" doesn't count against you. It was my fault for not using the due dates to organize it better. I'll make sure that doesn't happen again next week. We're not done celebrating Mom yet! Today, Mrs. Erving added directions on how to make a paper flower craft! I can't wait to see how they come out for those of you who choose to do it. Don't forget, tomorrow is snack chat day! Check in early to vote for which directed draw you'd like to do with our mystery guess! I'm so excited! Have a great day and possibly see you at 1pm! Office Hours: 8 - 9:30 1 - 2 6 - 7:30 Another short week! Let's get right down to it! This week is the last week for this science unit. Up next: weather! There's some fun activities to do with weather, I hope you're able to do a couple! Then, of course, we will study whales to wrap up the year. It's crazy to think how close the end of the year is. Next week I will be packing up the classroom, so a few Zoom sessions may have to be skipped. But you'll be able to get your water bottles back eventually! Stay tuned for information on that.
In math we are getting close to wrapping up fractions (don't be too sad about that)! We'll touch on a few more things with multiplication before I set you loose on the summer time. Even if we aren't in school, it never hurts to play a math game or too! You'll have access to that all summer long! Office Hours: 8:30 - 10 1 - 2 6 - 7:30 Good luck on your spelling test! I also can't wait to hear about what you've been up to with the book you're reading. It's been a week since we had a short week last week. We'll have another shorter week next week, too! Don't forget to treat your mother special this weekend. It's her day on Sunday (Mother's Day). Here's your video on the week: Hehe, do you get the meme today! Math humor... good times... ! Alright! If you were curious how you did on your Famous American projects, all of the feedback has been passed back. I was SO incredibly impressed with the information you were able to research and put into these projects. However, the photographs and backgrounds also made them fun to read. You all should be very proud! Fractions are really heating up! Comparing was another high level skill that many of you were able to jump all over. You. Are. All. Fabulous!! At 1pm we'll go over the comparing skill if you'd like a little more practice. Office Hours: 8 - 10 1 - 2 6 - 7:30 Today is one of my favorite activities for science. Do you have a refrigerator you can raid and cut up a bunch of veggies? Throw a science party and get ready to munch of food once you find out if they are science vegetables or science fruits. Take a picture if you are able to try out the activity. We'd love to see!
The story today is also a play! It's always fun to read plays with someone else! Don't be afraid to rope your brother or sister into reading the story with you. You'll have a quiz on the story tomorrow, so it's okay to take some of the extra time when you are done completing special assignments (like art, music, or gym) or just taking a breath! Don't forget! Today is fancy snack chat! Come looking your best (if you want, if that sounds miserable, I'd rather see your adorable face dressed in PJs than have fancy clothes stress you out). I have some silly trivia for you! Maybe see you later! Office Hours: 9 - 11 1 - 2 6 - 7:30 Today is the first time we have separate "assignments" for spelling practice. When you finish practicing today, go ahead and pass in your work. It's the same for fact practice. Played multiplication baseball or studied with an adult? Fill in what you did and turn it in! Today is his doctor's appointment, so I will be a little less available in the afternoon today (after the live math lesson). If you run across any bumps, I promise I will get back to you as soon as I can. Thanks for being understanding!
Office Hours: 10-11 1-1:30 (Math Live Lesson) 6:00 - 7:30 It's May! Today my little guy (I don't think I can call him a baby anymore??) turns one! He surprisingly was not a fan of his cake. Instead, he just wanted more fish sticks and strawberries. He's an odd little dude, but we love him! There are a few changes this week based off the families who answered my survey. Thank you so much! I'm going to switch some assignments that were weekly to daily in hopes that they won't get lost. So spelling will have a daily assignment instead of a weekly one. The same will go for fact practice on Tuesdays and Thursday. I've also switched fact practice to a simple question instead of having to type it out. Also, I am offering an OPTIONAL class that will give links to gym, art, and physical education. This will hopefully make everything a nice one stop shop. The only tricky piece... these are three different teachers so the assignments aren't going to be ready at 6am on Monday. I plan to add them Monday afternoon when the other teachers update their websites and make one class due on Tuesday, another due on Wednesday, and the last on Thursday. As you know, due dates are purely to keep the assignments organized, you can do them at whatever time works for your family. If you think having this extra reminder in the same spot you're already checking, join the class! The class code is below. Just click the + button in Google Classroom to add this class. Again, this is optional and only meant to help families stay organized and you do not have to join. Office Hours: 9-10 1-2 6-7:30 |
