Try not to be sad about this, but today... you are taking your last reading assessment! Next week we are going to start looking at whales (starting on Wednesday) instead of doing a weekly story. However, it is still important to continue reading next week and through the summer. Find a good series, magazine, or blog about how to beat your favorite video games. Whatever it is, just keep reading. Mrs. Erving sent in a picture of her butterflies. They are drying their wings and will be released into the New Boston wilderness soon! I wonder if they will flutter by any Terrific Turtle houses. Have an AMAZING weekend. We are getting so close to summer (the weather already feels like we're there). Keep up the hard work! Today we are celebrating Joe's birthday! Yay! He's got a summer birthday, so he's getting an extra day to himself a little bit early. Make sure to stop by and give Joe some kind words. Another person who is celebrating a birthday is Mr. Towne (the oldest member of New Boston and WWII war veteran). If you'd like, send him a birthday card! We only have one more new math learning left. On Monday, we'll be learning traditional multiplication! Whaaaaaaaaaaat! Parents, you will be so excited, no crazy EveryDay Math strategies here. This will be the traditional method that you know and love. Stay tuned for Monday to see that last new lesson. Anna is insisting on being in the intro video again. I hope you aren't sick of her yet. When she hears me recording she comes running to "help" haha!
Office Hours: 8 - 9 1 - 2 6 - 7:30 Chris was not excited about math today, but I hope you are! We have one more video lesson for next week. Then, after that it will be review sheets to make sure you are ready for fourth grade. You have worked so hard while we've been physically apart, I am so proud of all the new learning you've mastered.
Today's science lesson also includes an optional coloring mystery. However, the Google Slide part of the assignment is not optional. That's a question to show me you listened to the first part of the video. What is our weather typically like here in New Boston? Do you notice any patterns over the year? Don't forget to take a look up today, I wonder if there are any storms coming? Office Hours: 8-9 1-2 6-7:30 The classroom is all packed up! Soon the school will give out information for when you can pick up your stuff. When you do, Mrs. Erving and I left a little something extra for you to start off your summer. Since we are getting closer to summer, as we would normally do during the school year, we are going to transition by switching how we spend our time. The first subject to bite the dust is spelling. You have all worked so hard with spelling over these past few months! On Friday you took your last spelling test. There will be no more spelling over the next three weeks. Instead of spelling, we're going to start working on some summer birthday shout outs. Make sure you take your time and think about what you would give your friend. It's always so hard when we can't be together to celebrate such a special day! Office Hours:
8-9 1-2 6-7:30 You read that right, today is your LAST spelling test as a third grader. Take your time and absolutely rock it! We need more time to celebrate our summer birthdays, so see ya later spelling! Next week will be the last reading test as well! We've got whales to study in June so we need some room in your assignments. Today is my last day in the classroom, so I won't be as available as normal in the morning. My office hours will go back to normal next week though. Thank you all for being so flexible this week as I wrap up the classroom. It's been hard without my amazing helpers that normally help me pack up at least a little bit, but I'm almost there! I'll post a picture on Tuesday of our classroom all packed up.
Office Hours: 1-2 6-7:30 So excited by the whale watch news! Although we have to wait, at least we have something to wait for! It will be a nice light at the end of the tunnel to look forward to.
Make sure to practice your vocabulary and look back on the quiz today! We're getting towards the end of vocabulary, so you won't have many more chances to show me what you know. I cannot wait to see what you come up with for your patriotic representation from nature. It is a beautiful day today, so you'll have plenty of time to head outside and create a flag, or an eagle, or a message of thanks for our fallen heroes. Office Hours: 8:30 - 10 1 - 2 6 - 7:30 Today's snack chat is going to be a tropical beach theme! Go dig out your Hawaiian leis, your floaties, or whatever you think would go for beach day. We're going to be playing beach hangman with a special guest! Or at least we're going to try, it might be tricky to give everyone a turn to guess.
We are finally moving on to a new math topic! The rest of the year is going to cover multiplication and different patterns within multiplication. In between your math assignments, maybe you'll squeeze in a freeze dance competition for your family! Have a great day! Office Hours: 9-10 1-2:30 6-7:30 I know we've got a lot of cat lovers in the classroom. How are you going to make your favorite animal today? Also, tomorrow is our snack chat! We didn't talk about a new theme because of all the technical difficulties last week but a lovely student suggested one! We're going to do BEACH DAY! What do you wear to the beach? Have some snorkel gear? A fancy beach towel? Bring it along tomorrow!
Office Hours:
1-2 (Live Math Chat) 6-7:30 We're moving on in so many ways this week. We're moving away from fractions (sort of, measuring is the last bit we'll do with them) and we're moving away from plants. Too bad we didn't have the storm lesson last week so we could look to the sky last Friday! There sure was a lot of lightning!
Office Hours: 1-2 6-7:30
Below are the pictures from this week! Yes, that's Ava and no, she didn't mess with the camera to take that picture. Mrs. Chalson even sent over her final shark picture. Enjoy!
