Welcome to Day 3 of learning from home. Everyone came up with some fun vocabulary sentences yesterday. One of the spiciest sentences was: "There was a passenger in the car going to Mexico to buy a chihuahua." Love it! Today we are doing our first story! You can either read the story by yourself or listen to the narrator just like in class. Don't forget to type your answers in the "Note to Teacher" box below.
We are also doing our first attempt at practice math problems. Your parents do not have to print these. Just like in class when I put something on the board and you solve it on your white board, you can do that here. Find a scrap paper and solve these multiplication problems! There will different skills we will work on each day. I have added a spot on my website that I will put additional links provided by the school. It is called "Helpful Links," and it is located right next to the daily activities. This includes information from the integrated arts team (physical education, art, and music) as well as a list of all the subscriptions and passwords we use for research, learning, and fun. I am sure there will be more resources to come! Look back there to check every couple of days. Office Hours: 9:00 - 11:00 6:00 - 7:30 Daily Assignments: ELA Click on the story Firsts in Flight. If you click the speaker icon, the story will be read aloud to you just like in class. Listen carefully! :) When you are finished, please answer the question below in the "Note to Teacher" box. Respond to These Questions: 1. How did the Wright brothers help people fly? 2. Tell what you know about airplanes. Discuss other ways to fly. * Remember to use complete sentences Math Please complete the attached problems. Make sure to show your work and explain your thinking to an adult at home. Remember, you don’t need to print these. Just like at home, you can do your work on a scrap paper. In the “Note to Teacher” box below, tell us how you did! Once an adult checks your work you don’t have to send me the answers unless you want to. You can just let me know if this was tricky or just right.

It was so nice to hear from so many of you yesterday! The Terrific Turtles were so busy. There were some of you hosting yard sales and making moola, while others helped clean up our community by picking up trash on the side of the road. One family even welcomed pet ducks into their lives!
Mrs. Erving and I miss you all. Did you know that we can reply when you type in the blue "Note to Teacher" box? So make sure to check that out. Expectations: ( ) 5 sentences or more ( ) capitals and punctuation ( ) proper spelling - Please complete on ConnectEd - Even after a week off, he Terrific Turtles jumped right back into learning without any bumps! We started our unit on forces this week in science. We learned that force is just a series of pushes and pulls acting against each other. So far we've created hopper poppers and experimented with how we can change them to create more force and make them hop higher. We also tried to balance our forces so there would be no movement. We put our ideas to the test when we engineered some paper bridges. You read that right, bridges made out of paper only. We will continue to try a few more designs on Monday. We just celebrated our Read-A-Thon on Thursday. It was a great success! The Book Fair is visiting the school next week! Thanks to all the hard work at the beginning of the year for Michaelmas, every student has $7 to spend on a book (or books) at the book fair. We will preview the books on Monday and students will have a chance to shop during school hours on Thursday. I took a look on Friday, there are tons of good reads! It will be hard to pick. :) We also have our Curriculum Night on Thursday! The Father Daughter dance sponsored by the PTA is the following week on Friday. So much going on at our amazing school this month. Check out below for more information. The second term is coming to an end next week. Be on the lookout for report cards in a few weeks. As the weather starts to warm and we inch closer and closer to summer don't forget to take time read and practice multiplication facts at home. Also, I have updated the website to include information on the upcoming State Testing. More information will be coming on that as we get closer to the testing date.
Have a great weekend! Kristen Upcoming Dates: Monday - Book fair preview Tuesday - NO SCHOOL - Voting Day Thursday - Book fair shopping ($7 to each students) Friday - Grades close for Term 2 |
